Latin News inaugural edition published May 1, 1995,
right in tune with the Cinco de Mayo events for that year. Printing a quantity
of 5000 monthly copies, its distribution concentrated from Vancouver to Salem.
Two years later, Latin News grew to a multi-office location in Downtown Portland,
where it's distribution grew to 15,000 copies every first and sixteenth of
each month. Currently, Latin News proudly distributes 20,000 every week to as far north as Vancouver, as far south as Salem, as far east
as Madras, and as far west as McMinnville. Latin News is published weekly through out the year, the deadline for submissions is 12:00 PM every monday.
In addition, Latin News also publishes a yearly publication
titled "The Hispanic Telephone Directory". The edition of the
Hispanic Telephone Directory, the 8th edition, is scheduled to be released
in January of 2008. The Hispanic Telephone Directory publishes 80,000 annual
copies.
Latin News has won several awards throughout the years. Most
importantly, Latin news won 2nd place overall in the Target Audience category
in the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association in 2001. Latin News has also
received other recognition from many organizations including The US Department
of Commerce Census Bureau, The Portland Police Bureau, The Mexican Consulate,
and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
